In our worship this Sunday we will be thinking about the two greatest commands Jesus has taught us, to love God and to love our neighbours as ourselves. In prayer with the people from Commons Church in Calgary today, we pray this simple prayer, acknowledging how we struggle to love in the way that we are designed, in the way that has the potential to bring so much life to us, to others and to this world. And, as we pray we receive the wonderful gift of God’s grace, so necessary and precious to us, imperfect people that we are. And so, with grace received, we begin again, to love …
With the Jesus Prayer
God, for those moments
when I have not been kind to myself …
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
For those moments
when I have not been love for those around me …
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
For those moments
when I have ignored the beauty of your creation …
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
Amen.
