Friday, April 29th

Today our prayer was crafted by Bobbi Salkeld, pastor at Commons Church in Calgary.  It is titled “Weekend Confessions” and is an invitation for us to set down everything that hampers our ability to rest freely in God.  I invite you to join me in doing just that today.  May this prayer help you to enter a weekend of rest, restoration and Sabbath delight.

Weekend Confessions

I replay the past.
I am hard on myself.
I’m even harder on others.
I worry.
Oh boy, oh boy, do I worry.
I forget to take time for myself.
Who am I kidding? I avoid taking time for myself.
I’m petty.
I’m impatient.
I’m unkind
And still you love me.
You say, “Rest.” So I’ll rest.
“Play.” So I’ll play.
“Forgive yourself, make amends, have a laugh.”
So I’ll try.
I’ll try.
Amen.
