The Repair Cafe Oceanside, held on Saturday April 22nd was a resounding success with 126 registered items for assessment and repair. A team of 15 repairers worked to repair everything from small appliances to lamps to bicycles and the hall was a buzz with community activity. It was such a joy to see people helping people in the community. The Repair outcome was 61% repaired articles. We had 4 repair persons from St. Stephen’s alone.
The repair Café planning group included representation from St. Mark’s, St. Stephen’s, Knox as well as several folks from the public with no church affiliation.
Thank you to St. Mark's for supplying the refreshemnts for the cafe. Many thanks to Dolly’s Home Hardware for donating consumable repair supplies and The French Press for Coffee Roasters. Politicians from all three levels of government were here to support.
The RDN and Town of Qualicum Beach were present with information on their respective environmental programs.
What a great way to reduce waste, save money, meet people and learn new skills!
