So many of Jesus’ words that we read in the gospels are so challenging, aren’t they? I find this week’s is particularly so: Matthew 22: 15-22 where the religious leaders of the day are questioning Jesus about paying taxes. While these people were doing their best to trap Jesus and trick him into either saying something blasphemous or treasonous, Jesus called them out (again) for taking their eyes off the prize…that is the Kingdom of God.
